Recovered files seem to be hidden
This is driving me a bit batty, I'm trying to recover files from a bad HDD, when I tell R-Studio (NTFS v5.0) to recover a marked folder, and I select to restore folder structure, the folder and files seem to get recovered to the destination drive, but they are nowhere to be found. If I look at the properties of the destination folder, it shows there is data in the folder, but I can't view it. If I tell R-TT not to restore the folder structure, the files show up perfectly on the destination drive.
It looks like R-TT writes the files to some "Root" directory within the destination directory I choose, but "Root" isn't there. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Recovered files seem to be hidden
Please tell me what are the other recovery options? Especially "Remove hidden option" on the Recovery dialog box.

Re: Recovered files seem to be hidden
I've pretty much tried every combination of the other options, "Remove Hidden Option" on and off. My current options selected are:
Condense...
Restore folder structure
Restore real folder structure (checked and grayed out)
Recover alternate data streams
Recover extended attributes
Interestingly, when I recover a folder using these options, when I view the destination drive in R-Studio, I see that "Root" directory, but Vista (x64 SP2) can't see it.

FYI, I connected the destination drive to an XPsp2 machine, and it can't see that "Root" directory either.
Re: Recovered files seem to be hidden
Well, I need some time to try to understand what is wrong.
"Root" is a fictitious folder to separate actual files from the so-called "metafiles", or data about the file structure.

How much time do you think you'll need? I really need to get my data off this crippled drive.

We are trying to reproduce this case, but to no avail so far. But we are still working on it.

We could do a Webex (or equivalent) and I could show you what's going on directly on my PC. You'd need to be available in the evening (EDT) to do that though.

I need to bring our developers, too. I will talk to them right now.
